2009 Fiona Blanc
Vin de Pays de l’Hérault
Blend: 70% Chardonnay, 20% Roussanne, 10% Sauvignon.
Position in Vineyards: Exposed west, north-west.
Type of Soil: Limestone, well-drained.
Average Age of Vines: 20 years
Average Output: 30 hl/hectare for 3800 plantations per hectare.
Time of Harvest: Last week of August 2009.
Vinification Details: Hand picked grapes. Initially the grapes are pressed “lightly”, after which they rest and settle for 36 hours at a temperature between 8°C to 10°C. 50% of the wine is fermented in barrels, the other 50% ferments in tanks.
When Bottled: November 2009.
Maturation Potential: 2011 - 2012
Winemaker’s Comments: Golden green colour. Hints of grapefruit and other citrus fruits. The wine has a beautiful balance of fruit and acidity. It is an excellent choice for a large variety of meals, starting as appetitive and enjoyed with all seafood and creamy dishes.
